Get customs data for import and export declarations
Request reports based on your Customs Declaration Service import and export data.
The customs data report service
This service can provide data for EORI numbers starting GB. If you need data for an EORI number starting XI, you’ll need to use the paid service on the UK Trade Info website.
Use this service to request customs data reports from HMRC. These reports are based on your import and export data from the Customs Declaration Service. They’re set out in a similar way to Management Support System (MSS) reports.
These reports can help you:
- check your customs declarations are accurate
- support audits or investigations
- review declarations submitted on your behalf
- monitor your import and export activity over time
Who can use the service
You can use this service if you’re an importer or exporter.
You can also use the service if you’re:
- a declarant, like a customs agent who submits declarations on behalf of someone else
- a third party, like a consultancy firm or accountant, acting on behalf of someone else
If you’re a third party, your client will need to give you permission to request reports on their behalf. They can do this in the service.
What’s in the reports
You can request 4 types of report. The following table gives a basic overview and example of each one. The example reports are for information only and do not represent any real data.
| Information included in the report | Example of the report | |
|---|---|---|
| Import item report | This includes commodity codes, customs values and duty amounts for each item in an import declaration. | |
| Import header report | A summary of the full import declaration. This includes the customs value, invoice amount and transport costs. | |
| Import tax lines report | A breakdown of taxes like customs duties, VAT and Excise Duty. | |
| Export item report | This includes commodity codes, values and export measures for each item in an export declaration. |
Data you can request
You can request up to 31 consecutive days of data in each report. This can start from any date within the last 4 years. Data from the past 2 days is not available.
Importers, exporters and declarants
You can request data for the EORI number linked to the Government Gateway user ID you use to sign in.
To get data for more than one EORI number, you’ll need to sign in more than once, using the Government Gateway user ID linked to each EORI number.
Third parties
You can request data for more than one EORI number using a single Government Gateway user ID.
