Important dates for the Basic Payment Scheme.

1 January 2022	Official start of the BPS 2022 scheme year
1 January to 31 December 2022	Land used to apply for BPS needs to be eligible all year. Cross compliance rules need to be followed all year
15 March 2022	Applications open
16 May (midnight) 2022	Land used to apply for BPS in 2022 needs to be ‘at your disposal’ (only the person who has the land at their disposal on this date can use it to be paid for BPS in 2022) BPS application deadline, and Young and new farmer 2022 application deadline to avoid late application penalties Deadline for BPS 2022 entitlement transfers (only the person who holds an entitlement on this date can use it to be paid for BPS in 2022) Deadline for RPA to receive applications for new entitlements from young or new farmers, to avoid late application penalties Deadline for RPA to receive the Young and new farmer form for the young farmer payment from first time applicants, or from existing young farmer applicants when the business structure has changed.
10 June (midnight) 2022	‘Late application’ deadline. Deadline for supporting evidence and certain changes to the application (no penalty) and late applications with penalties. Any applications, certain changes to applications or supporting evidence received after this date will not be accepted (except in cases of force majeure and exceptional circumstances).
1 December 2022	BPS 2022 payments start
31 December 2022	Official end of the BPS 2022 scheme year
30 June 2023	BPS 2022 payments end
