The British Embassy Minsk is the official representation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Belarus.

We work on a wide range of issues with the Belarusian government and non-governmental organisations to support political, social and economic reforms, improve the situation in the areas of human rights and the rule of law, and encourage Belarus’ full participation as a member of Eastern Partnership. We work with businesses in Belarus and the UK to build trade links for mutual growth.

Births and deaths

UK birth and death registrations in Belarus have been transferred from the British Embassy in Minsk to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in the UK.

There are no changes to the entitlement to register a birth or death. The processing time will remain the same. However, you will now need to allow extra time for the documents to be sent to and from the UK. See Register a birth or Register a death for further information.

Your marriage or civil partnership should be recognised in the UK if you follow the correct process according to local law. Contact the local authorities in Belarus to find out what you need to do to get married. Belarusian Registry offices, ZAGs, now accept the Affidavit/Affirmation sworn before a British Embassy in Minsk Consular official, which substitute a Certificate of No Impediment.

Affidavit/Affirmation service is by appointment only. To make an appointment, please request the service by writing to Consular enquiries email, which can be found below.

Chevening Scholarships

Chevening Scholarships not only offer financial support to study for a Master’s degree at the UK’s leading universities, but the opportunity to become part of an influential and highly regarded global network. Last year, one Chevening Scholar from Belarus studied in the UK. More information.
