Details

We have published the terms of reference and methodology for the review. These documents set out the approach and conduct of the review.

We will publish the report of the review here when it is completed.

Wendy Williams, the Independent Adviser for the Windrush lessons learned review, is launching a call for evidence to run alongside her ongoing engagement with those directly affected by Windrush.

The call for evidence review is interested in hearing from immigration advisors and lawyers; advice providers, research and academic institutions; and other non-governmental organisations.

The call for evidence is open until the 19th October 2018.

Independent Advisory Group

Wendy has drawn together a small panel of experts to help inform the review’s focus and approach. The Independent Advisory Group will meet regularly during the review bringing a diverse range of perspectives, experience and specialist expertise across a range of areas including immigration law, leading public bodies and equality, diversity and inclusion. The Independent Advisory Group is an important mechanism in helping to ensure the issues are fully considered. Further details on the experience and expertise of panel members is available above.

Windrush lessons learned review and compensation scheme roadshows

It is essential that the lessons learned review, and those designing the Windrush compensation scheme, hear directly from people who have been affected - whether that was because they were wrongly deported or detained; were made subject to immigration controls; or were affected by compliant environment measures, like restrictions to housing, bank accounts, work or health treatment.

As such both Wendy Williams and Martin Forde QC (who is overseeing the design of the compensation scheme), will be running a number of roadshows, where they hope to meet with people affected and hear their personal accounts.

Wendy and Martin are both keen to listen - so if you were affected please attend one of the following if you can:

London Thursday 6th September 13:00 to 16:00 Willesden New Testament Church of God, The Lewinson Centre, 165-167 High Road, Willesden, London, NW10 2SG
