Following the commencement of the predetermination provision in the Localism Act 2011, an updated version of the planning propriety guidance has been published.

The guidance provides advice for ministers in DCLG charged with making decisions under the planning legislation, considers the position of ministers in other departments, and the position of parliamentary private secretaries, ministerial special advisers and officials.

This replaces the guidance on planning propriety issues published on 6 October 2008.
