Pearson has agreed to pay a fine of £505,000 after it failed to comply with its Conditions of Recognition in relation to the setting and marking of assessments for A level Chinese.

Details
On 1 December 2025 Ofqual accepted a settlement proposal from Pearson following findings that it had failed to comply with its Conditions of Recognition in relation to the setting and marking of assessments for its GCE A level qualification in Chinese.
Pearson agreed to pay a fine of £505,000, together with £20,000 in respect of Ofqual’s investigation and legal costs. Final decisions were made by Ofqual’s Enforcement Panel on 5 December 2025.
