This Merchant Shipping Notice (MSN) sets out and explains regulatory requirements regarding the implementation of training elements applicable under Chapter III/4 and III/5 of the Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Convention and Code, leading to Certificates of Proficiency (CoP) under regulations 18 and 20 in the Merchant Shipping (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Regulations 2022. It outlines the qualifying conditions for obtaining an Engine Room Watch Rating (ERWR) and an Able Seafarer Engine Certificate of Proficiency (CoP).
