Details

Documents on this page are intended for health protection teams (HPTs). Health professionals are advised to notify all suspected cases of measles, mumps and rubella to their local HPT who will organise testing for surveillance purposes.

There is a separate set of forms and instructions for HPTs to use for urgent oral fluid testing for measles.

These documents contain:

  • a laboratory request form and template letter for HPTs to fill in
  • step by step leaflet on how to take an oral fluid swab
  • instructions for HPT staff on how to request kits and how to find the results from oral fluid tests

HPTs should:

  • add patient details and local signature and contact information to the letter
  • complete as much information as they can on the laboratory request form
  • ensure all the appropriate documentation is included with the oral fluid swabs prior to sending them out to all patients with suspected measles, mumps or rubella
