Details

Lyme borreliosis is the most common vector-borne human infection in England and Wales.The spirochaetes are transmitted by a tick, Ixodes ricinus. Enhanced surveillance was introduced in late 1996 to improve reporting levels and to collect additional clinical and epidemiological information on cases.
