How to contact the learning records service (LRS) for help and advice

The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) closed on 31 March 2025. All activity has moved to the Department for Education (DfE). You should continue to follow this guidance.
1. Contacting the service desk for general enquiries

When emailing the LRS service desk, you should follow the data encryption and passphrase guidance to ensure you’re protecting learner data.
1.3 Post
We’re currently unable to respond promptly to letters sent in the post. Please use one of our other contact routes.
You can use the registration documents if you need to register to access the LRS as a learning provider, local authority or awarding organisation (AO).
2. Service desk opening hours
Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm Christmas Eve: 8am to 6pm New Year’s Eve: 8am to 1pm
Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and on English public holidays.
If you have any queries out of hours you can email LRS.support@education.gov.uk.
3. Information requests
The LRS is part of the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and the information it holds can be requested from the main ESFA website under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
You can use the information request form to submit any questions about LRS to the customer helpdesk, who will respond to your query within 5 working days.
