     Updated and restructured to set out: what disqualification means; who can apply to have their disqualification waived and in what circumstances; how to submit an application; how we decide whether to waive a disqualification, and; how to appeal if we refuse your application.

  2. 10 September 2026

     Updated to clarify that where the applicant is a company, the disqualification applies to the company and not the individual directors.

  3. 23 October 2018

     Guidance and forms have been updated following amendments to disqualification regulations under the Childcare Act 2006. Disqualification ‘by association’ no longer applies to childcare provision in schools and other non-domestic registered childcare settings, such as nurseries and pre-schools.
