Details

This guidance specifies how to design and construct new domestic and non- domestic buildings to help ensure feasible smart meter location.

It aims to ensure that new builds are suitable for smart meter installations and commissioning from the outset (“smart-meter-ready”).

The guidance is for:

  • those responsible for building design
  • those responsible for site management and the choice of metering locations

The guidance has been consulted on and confirmed through the Future Homes and Buildings Standards (FHBS) consultation and its government response.
