Academy and free school funding agreement: single academy trust

Model funding agreement for single academy trusts establishing new academies and free schools.

Documents

Details

The funding agreement provides the framework for your academy or free school to operate in. These model funding agreements are for:

  • schools in the process of becoming an academy with a single academy trust
  • groups opening a free school with a single academy trust

Sixth-form colleges should speak to their regional school commissioner.

If you’re a school in the process of converting to a mainstream academy with a single academy trust, you can also complete the funding agreement online.

You’ll need to complete your memorandum and articles of association alongside your funding agreement.

We’ve provided the funding agreement in Word and ODT format.

More guidance on converting to an academy and on opening a free school is available.
