The Foreign Secretary joined elected leaders and representatives of the UK Overseas Territories for the tenth Joint Ministerial Council.

Details

Ministers for the Overseas Territories and elected leaders and representatives of the Overseas Territories, met as the Joint Ministerial Council (JMC) on 11 to 12 May 2023. Ministers and representatives from across the UK government also joined, including the Home Office, Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, Department of Transport, HM Treasury, Department of Health and Social Care, and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

This ministerial communiqué was issued following the meeting. It:

  • emphasises the need to strengthen law enforcement and control irregular migration
  • highlights the need to build on economic and financial resilience
  • recognises the need to protect unique environments and combat  climate change
  • outlines increased flexibility in healthcare
