Prime Minister’s Nowruz message 2014

Prime Minister David Cameron sends his best wishes to everyone in Britain and around the world celebrating Nowruz.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

I send my warmest wishes to everyone in Britain and around the world celebrating Nowruz.

I know that millions of people will be observing this important festival by giving thanks and reflecting on the past 12 months. Family and friends will also join together to celebrate the ‘new day’ by making plans and looking forward to the next 12 months.

And with a New Year comes renewed challenges and opportunities. Nowruz is a time where people and nations can come together to help find peace and prosperity for all. Britain’s relationship with Iran is changing and, while there are many more steps to take, President Rouhani and I have agreed to continue efforts to improve ties between our 2 countries.

To British communities celebrating this age-old festival I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you do for our country. From charitable and voluntary help for disadvantaged people to excelling in business and education, you make an enormous contribution to our country. And to people observing Nowruz around the world I’d like to send Britain’s best wishes to you as you celebrate with friends and family.

I hope you have a very happy and peaceful New Year.

Har ruzetan Nowruz, Nowruzetan piruz.
