Government Art Collection Revealed exhibition opens in Birmingham

Almost 200 works for the public to enjoy under one roof.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

From an unknown 16th century artist’s formal portrait of Elizabeth I to Andy Warhol’s pop art screenprint of the present Queen, there’s something for everyone in this eclectic selection of works of art which goes on display tomorrow at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

For the first time in its 114 year history, the Government Art Collection (GAC) is staging a public exhibition outside London bringing together works from five displays that have previously taken place at the Whitechapel Gallery, London over the last 18 months.

View some of the works and find out more about the exhibition on the Government Art Collection website.
