Following the completion of the categorisation of former Maoist combatants in Nepal, Foreign Office Minister Jeremy Browne said:

“I would like to congratulate the Government of Nepal and the political parties on the swift implementation of the survey and categorisation of former Maoist combatants as agreed on 1 November.

“This is a significant step forward in the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Accord and subsequent agreements and gives renewed hope that the Nepal peace process can be completed successfully.

“I call on the parties to keep up the momentum by moving ahead quickly with the next steps in this process, including completing the Constitution. I reaffirm the UK Government’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s peace process.”
