Renewable Heat Incentive statistics

This series brings together all documents relating to Renewable Heat Incentive statistics.

This statistical series provides deployment data for:

  • the non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) introduced in Great Britain in November 2011 to support the uptake of renewable heat in the non-domestic sector
  • the domestic RHI introduced in Great Britain in April 2014 to encourage a switch to renewable heating systems in the domestic sector.

The domestic RHI closed to new applications in March 2022. The non-domestic RHI closed to new applications in March 2021. In response to Covid-19, DESNZ extended the non-domestic RHI commissioning deadline for eligible tariff guarantee stage 2, stage 3, and extension applications from 31 March 2022 to 31 March 2023. As this deadline has now passed, datasets are no longer published on a regular basis. We expect the March 2024 (Annual edition) to be the final Official Statistics publication for both the non-domestic and domestic RHI.

For more information on the closure of the RHI, please refer to the Ofgem web pages: non-domestic RHI closure and domestic RHI closure.

Historical releases are available on request, see contact details below.
