Refugee integration and resettlement analysis

Research and evaluation relating to refugee integration and the Vulnerable Persons and Vulnerable Children’s Resettlement Schemes.

This collection brings together Home Office research and analysis relating to refugee resettlement and integration.

The Refugee Integration Outcomes gives a longitudinal picture of integration outcomes for refugees in England and Wales between 2015 and 2021 and provides a backdrop to help interpret findings from other reports in the collection.

The evaluations of the Refugee Transitions Outcomes Fund, Refugee Employability Programme, and Vulnerable Persons and Vulnerable Children Resettlement Schemes provide insights into the operation of schemes to support refugees on arrival and in preparing to enter the labour market. Common themes included the importance of secure housing, and greater than expected need for both mental health support and English for speakers of other languages (ESOL).

Two additional research projects were commissioned to look at refugee mental health and employment, and the effectiveness of an intensive, digital ESOL course designed to overcome barriers to ESOL participation.
