Access to Work: statistics on recipients

Statistics on the numbers of disabled people being helped and continuing to benefit from Access to Work.

Access to Work helps pay for practical support for disabled people and people who have a health or mental health condition so that they can:

  • start working
  • stay in work
  • start their own business

This statistical series provides official statistics on the number of people benefiting from Access to Work (AtW). Each release contains statistics on the number of people helped and numbers who continue to receive support.

The latest statistics on AtW produced by the Department for Work and Pensions were released on 21 January 2014 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority. They cover the period from April 2013 to September 2013 and include data for England, Scotland and Wales.

The main points from the latest release are:

  • 27,020 new individuals helped in the period April 2013 to September 2013
  • 5,020 individuals continued to benefit from AtW from April 2013 to September 2013
