Details
Hertfordshire traditionally has a high level of employment across the county. However, the LEP has identified that the level of employment for those with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LDDs) is lower than many other local authorities.
In addition, the increase of unemployment due to COVID-19 has impacted particularly on people with LDDs, with a recent national survey suggesting that 50% of employers stated that they would not employ someone with a neurodiverse condition
The LEP intends that this call will lead to project(s) that will increase the numbers of adults with complex LDDs able to move towards EET (education, employment, training) by ensuring they are engaged and receive intensive support and encouragement, stopping them from ‘falling through the net’ at the earliest possible opportunity.
Successful project proposals are likely to be a collaboration between the public sector, voluntary sector and employers and will focus on supporting people to get employment and whilst in employment, which also includes working directly with employers to educate them in making suitable work adjustments in line with expectations from the Equality Act.

Value
Approximately £1,400,000 of ESF is available.
Deadlines
Full application deadline: 2 June 2021
Completion date
Projects must be completed no later than 3 years and 6 months after the proposed project start date, however the ESF Managing Authority reserves the right to vary the maximum duration in exceptional circumstances. All ESF Projects must be completed by 31st December 2023. Project costs cannot be incurred beyond this date.
