This call seeks applications which will attract new skilled staff to Dorset’s priority sectors and upskill existing staff to increase productivity.
The call is seeking activity which maximises use of existing opportunities in relevant STEM and other professional areas, including through apprenticeships and other structured training routes. Ideally, these would provide opportunities to both maximise local / employer led resources (including the Apprenticeship Levy) and expertise to upskill the sector. Such pathways would also focus on activity from Level 2 or 3 to higher skills progression for the harder to reach / lower skilled within the workforce.
Proposals are particularly welcome with the following characteristics:
- Use of the Apprenticeship Levy.
- Significant employer involvement in skills progression and training.
- Consideration of rural and coastal challenges.
- Engagement with workers sometimes reluctant to upskill, including women returning to the labour market and workers aged 50+
- Promotion of access to, and participation in further and higher education, especially to people claiming work-related benefits.

The project must cover the Dorset LEP area.
Value
Approximately £1,848,072 of ESF is available.
Deadlines
Full application deadline: 20 February 2020
Completion date
Projects must be completed no later than 3 years and 6 months after the proposed project start date, however the ESF Managing Authority reserves the right to vary the maximum duration in exceptional circumstances. All ESF Projects must be completed by 31st December 2023. Project costs cannot be incurred beyond this date.
