Energy licence modification appeals 2026
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is considering whether to grant permission to appeal to 5 energy companies against modifications made on 3 February 2026 to gas distribution licences, following Ofgem’s RIIO-3 price control decisions.
Timetable for applications for permission

Notices of appeal
3 March 2026: 5 licence holders have sought permission to appeal the decision by GEMA (Ofgem’s governing body) of 3 February 2026 on proposed modifications to the gas distribution licences. These licence modifications are based on Ofgem’s RIIO-3 price control decisions of 4 December 2025, which set out how much energy companies can charge their customers.
