British Ambassador to Uruguay
We maintain and develop relations between the UK and Uruguay. The British Embassy in Montevideo provides services to British nationals living in and visiting Uruguay.
Our work covers a range of issues in line with the UK government’s international agenda which supports our foreign priorities.
The political work we do is aimed at improving the rules-based international system to reduce conflict and encourage security and stability. We therefore support democratic values, human rights, international free trade and sustainable global growth.
We also work to build the UK’s prosperity through supporting British companies who want to do business in Uruguay, and Uruguayan companies who want to invest in Britain. We also support British citizens in Uruguay through our modern and efficient consular services.
If you’re in Uruguay and you need urgent help (for example, you’ve been attacked, arrested or someone has died), call +598 2622 3630. If you’re in the UK and worried about a British national in Uruguay, call 020 7008 1500.
