British Ambassador to Argentina
We maintain and develop relations between the UK and Argentina. The British Embassy in Buenos Aires provides services to British nationals living in and visiting Argentina.
We contribute towards increasing bilateral trade and investment and by promoting sustainable, low carbon economic growth. We champion UK values and work with a wide range of Argentine organisations and institutions who share similar values in areas such as human rights, climate change and science and innovation.
We provide consular assistance for British nationals, offering help appropriate to each individual circumstance.
Services for British nationals
If you’re in Argentina and you need urgent help (for example, you’ve been attacked, arrested or someone has died), call (011) 4808 2200. If you’re in the UK and worried about a British national in Argentina, call 020 7008 1500.
Get an emergency travel document
If you are due to travel in the next 24 hours, contact us as soon as possible.
You are advised to obtain a police report for a lost passport as well as for a stolen passport as the Argentine authorities will request to see it on departure.

- are a British citizen and
- have previously owned a British passport
- over 16 years old but have not owned a British passport before or
- not a British citizen or
- applying for a child under 16 years old
