Visit the UK as part of a German school trip

The German-UK school trip travel arrangement has not yet come into force.

As part of the UK-Germany Friendship and Bilateral Cooperation Treaty (‘the Kensington Treaty’), the UK and Germany agreed to make travel requirements for school groups easier. This arrangement is not currently in place and cannot be used yet.

This arrangement will come into force once Germany completes its legislative process. We will publish the start date on GOV.UK once both countries have finalised all parts of the agreement. We will also publish the UK‑Germany school trip travel information form on GOV.UK.

Until this arrangement is in place, German school groups visiting the UK must continue to meet the current passport or visit visa requirements. This includes electronic travel authorisation (ETA) requirements.
