Your application for 30 hours free childcare has been unsuccessful.

Your application for 30 hours free childcare has been unsuccessful. This might be because you don’t meet the eligibility criteria or the information you used in your application doesn’t match the information you hold. For example:

  • you’re working, but don’t expect to earn on average, at least the minimum amount according to your age per week

  • your child’s date of birth doesn’t match the date on their birth certificate

If you used the wrong information, but still want to apply for 30 hours free childcare you can make a new application, using the correct details.

If the information you gave was correct, and you’ve checked that you meet (in full) the eligibility criteria, you can ask for a Mandatory Review. Your request needs to be made in writing and within 30 days. You must tell us:

  • your name, National Insurance number and write ‘Mandatory Review’ at the top of your letter

  • what you think is wrong

  • why you can apply for 30 hours free childcare - you may need to send original copies of evidence that support your Mandatory Review

If your Mandatory Review is rejected you have the right of appeal to a tribunal.
