How to join the Pig Carcase Grading Scheme, administered by the Rural Payments Agency (RPA).
If you operate an abattoir that slaughters more than 200 clean pigs per week (averaged over a 12-month rolling period), you must be registered with the Pig Carcase Grading Scheme. Clean pigs are animals that have not been used for breeding. You must register within 28 days of becoming an operator of such an abattoir.
The scheme is run by RPA’s Meat Technical Schemes team.

Keep your details up to date
You must tell RPA’s Meat Technical Schemes team if any of these details change:
- the operator of the premises or the operator’s trading name
- the address or telephone number of the premises or the owner’s registered office
- the approval number of the abattoir (assigned by the Food Standards Agency)
