Site libraries: UKHSA Knowledge and Library Services
Learn more about the UKHSA site libraries.
We have 3 libraries, at our Chilton, Colindale and Porton sites that are accessible by UKHSA staff. All libraries offer printing, photocopying, study spaces and comfortable seating.
There are learning and development and wellbeing titles available in each library. You can browse available books, journals and other resources using the library catalogue. Addresses and contact details are listed below.
All UKHSA staff can borrow, renew and return books using the self-issue kiosks in each library. Log in to the kiosk with your library catalogue account. Your username is the first part of your email address before the @ sign. Reset your password if you do not know it.
Chilton
Resources
The Chilton library contains a specialist book collection and an archive of print journals and reports. The focus is on radiation and environmental hazards. The collection includes:
- Centre for Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Hazards (CRCE) research
- legacy publications by the National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB)
- outreach collection for UKHSA staff promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in schools and at events

Colindale
Resources
The Colindale library houses a specialist book collection, an archive of print journals and a training room. The collection includes:
- a comprehensive microbiology collection
- rare medical history books
- archival material from previous organisations, including Public Health Laboratory Service (PHLS), Health Protection Agency (HPA) and Public Health England (PHE)
