Overview

The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) provides pre-16 funding for schools to local authorities via the dedicated schools grant (DSG). This funding is distributed to schools in the local authority area through a local funding formula.

The guidance on this page follows the ministerial statement on school revenue funding, and the national funding formula, in the 2018 to 2019 financial year.

On 14 September 2017, the Secretary of State for Education set out the final design of the national funding formulae (NFFs) for schools and high needs in a speech to parliament. This is set out in detail in the national funding formula for schools and high needs policy paper.
