This MIN details the requirements relating to the certification structure and examination and training requirements for engineer officers wanting to work on Fishing Vessels, Yachts, Tugs, Workboats, Standby, Seismic Survey, Oceanographic Research Vessels and Government Patrol Vessels.

This notice should be read with MSN 1857, MSN 1859 and MSN 1865.
This MIN has been extended and expires 10 January 2023.

This MIN has been extended until the 10 January 2023, this aligns with the new STCW Regulations coming into force, at which point this MIN will be replaced by MSN 1904.

After the 1 October 2022, this MIN will be replaced by MIN 524 (Amendment 1) to update the Engineer Small Vessel requirements in line with the Merchant Shipping (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Regulations 2022.
