     Added March 2023 edition of the Merged Approved Documents, incorporating 2022 editions of Approved Document R1, Approved Document R2; 2022 amended editions of Approved Document B1, Approved Document B2, Approved Document J; 2023 amended editions of Approved Document L1, Approved Document L2.

Since April 2023, the Building Safety Regulator has a duty under the Building Safety Act 2022 to keep under review the safety and standards of all buildings in England, which includes advising government on updates to the Approved Documents.

The Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety led by Dame Judith Hackitt made a number of recommendations to enhance the safety of buildings, including to publish a fully searchable PDF of all Approved Documents.
