The Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety led by Dame Judith Hackitt made a number of recommendations to enhance the safety of buildings, including to reinstate a Manual to the Building Regulations.

The 2020 edition of the manual has been designed to be clear and useful for a range of audiences and is split into 2 volumes: an accessible overview and a more detailed set of guidance.

October 2023 - this edition of the Manual was published in July 2020 and has not yet been updated to reflect changes introduced in the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated regulations. Information on those changes can be found at The Building Safety Act: secondary legislation
