Standards and guidance on the area of school buildings and grounds, and the number of pupil places available in mainstream school buildings.
The guidance in these building bulletins will assist building professionals, school sponsors and others who need advice on the appropriate amount of space for teaching and learning activities.
Version 6.2 of the Schedule of Accommodation (SoA) tool referred to in BB103 is available for new schools. Version 7.3 is also available as part of the Output Specification 2017 and allows the list of spaces recommended to be compared with those in existing buildings.
The net capacity assessment method is still used as the standard method for measuring the number of pupil places available in any mainstream school.
