The purpose of the Local Capacity Building Fund is to support the set up of a limited number (8-10) of local youth partnerships. These partnerships must be in areas that qualify for the DCMS Youth Investment Fund. The partnerships must be broad based (i.e. consist of statutory and civil society members who are involved in the delivery, commissioning or planning services for young people). The objective is to boost the range, quality, accountability and sustainability of frontline services for young people through greater local coordination and cooperation.

Eligibility:

  • the fund is open to charitable, benevolent and philanthropic organisations from across England
  • applications should be for £250,000
  • applicants should be able to demonstrate that they can deliver impact across multiple regions in England

Applicants must have:

  • an established mechanism for delivery at scale
  • a clear set of principles (for local youth partnerships) including but not limited to the involvement of service users
  • a defined and established system and package of resources, assets and toolkits to support start up and on-going support
  • the ability to deliver bespoke and one-to-one support to a range of groups and networks
  • a track record of successful engagement with local organisations and groups with a focus on partnership development and support, especially those working with the most marginalised young people
  • a track record of successful engagement with public sector bodies with a focus on partnership development, support and adding value to local services
  • an ability to engage with DCMS evaluation processes throughout the delivery of the work
  • a staff team skilled and experienced in delivering place-based programmes and partnerships alongside national delivery at scale
  • ability to deliver high level communications and engagement at local, regional and national levels
  • clear procedures to ensure value for money and budget controls

  • we are not able to respond to requests for support in completing this application as this is a competitive process

Successful applicants will be informed the week the close of this procurement exercise. We expect the grant agreement will be finalised with the successful applicant during July 2022. Exact timing may vary.
