Summary for August
Rainfall totals for August were higher than the previous month across much of England and close to the long term average.
Soils were drier than average across much of England.
River flows and groundwater decreased at most indicator sites across England, but remain normal or higher for the time of year at almost all sites.
Reservoir stocks decreased at the majority of sites, with overall storage for England being 85% of total capacity – this is typical for the time of year.
