In 2024, domestic transport accounted for:

110.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e), similar to 2023 (0.2% increase from 110.2 MtCO2e in 2023). This was a decrease of 10% compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019

30% of total domestic greenhouse gas emissions in the United Kingdom (UK)

29% of domestic nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions

26% of domestic airborne particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 micrometres (PM2.5) emissions

22% of domestic airborne particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter less than 10 micrometres (PM10) emissions
