Key facts

The breastfeeding initiation rate was 73.5% in 2010/11 Quarter 3, a slight improvement on 2009/10 (72.7%) and 2008/09 (71.7%).

The prevalence of breastfeeding at 6-8 weeks in 2010/11 Q3 was 44.9% of all infants due a 6-8 weeks check, which is largely unchanged from the figure of 44.8% recorded in 2009/10 Q3
