Details
This analysis linked drug and alcohol treatment data from the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) to offending data from the Police National Computer.
The report and accompanying data tables cover community-based treatment journeys in England from April 2013 to March 2023. The linked data looks at the:
- offending rate of people in the year before starting treatment
- reoffending rate in the year after starting treatment
The methodology report explains how we carried out the analysis. The annexes contain full lists of the substances and offences recorded, and the groups used in the report.
The report will be useful to policymakers, commissioners, researchers and treatment providers who want to understand the offending and reoffending characteristics of people in drug and alcohol treatment.
This analysis is from the Better Outcomes through Linked Data (BOLD) programme.
