The breastfeeding initiation rate in England was 73.7% in 2010/11 Quarter 2, which is slightly higher than 2009/10 (72.7%) and 2008/09 (71.7%).

The prevalence of breastfeeding in England at 6-8 weeks at 2010/11 Quarter 2 was 46.2% of infants due a 6-8 week check, higher than the figure of 45.0% recorded in 2009/10 Q2
