  10. Adding PivotTable tools covering the 2017 to 2018 academic year to the collection. Additionally, "Apprenticeships by age and planned length of stay: starts 2008 to 2009 to 2017 to 2018" and "Apprenticeship expected duration by age, level and sector subject area 2016 to 2017 and 2017 to 2018" were added.

  11. Changed title and structure of headings and uploaded tables previously published under other statistical data sets. Removed tables from the attachments list that will be uploaded to other statistical data sets in the FE data library.

  12. Added the document 'Apprenticeships by region and sector subject area: participation 2009 to 2010 to Q3 2017 to 2018'. Also added PivotTable tools covering 2017 to 2018.

  13. A number of data tools and tables have been produced for Q2 2017/18. Renamed corresponding files representing Q1 2017/18 to clarify the time periods they represent. Moved the 'Apprenticeships by age and planned length of stay: starts 2008/09 to 2016/17' file to the 'FE data library: other statistics and research' collection.

  14. Updated apprenticeships by region and sector subject area: participation 2009-2010 to 2016-2017. Also added a small number of new 2017 to 2018 pivot tools.

  15. Added new apprenticeship pivot table tools by sector subject area for provider and demographic breakdowns for the 2016 to 2017 academic year.

  16. Apprenticeships participation by region and sector table and workplaces of apprentices by region table updated to include final 2016 to 2017 data.

  17.   18. We have updated 5 apprenticeship data tools to contain full-year provisional 2016 to 2017 data.

This statistical data set provides information on apprenticeships through a number of reports broken down by a number of measures including starts, achievements and participation. These tables also include additional learner information such as:

  • sector subject area (SSA)
  • frameworks and standards
  • geography (region, LAD, PCON)
  • demographics (e.g. gender, age, LDD, ethnicity)
  • provider information

This section also includes tables for traineeships, reporting starts, completions and progressions. It provides supplementary information to the further education and skills statistical release.

Apprenticeship and traineeships: current data

This section covers starts and achievements data for the first three quarters of the 2019 to 2020 academic year (August 2019 to April 2020) reported to date.
