Voluntary-aided schools: capital scheme

Guidance for proposers bidding for capital funding to help them establish new voluntary-aided schools.

Applies to England

The deadline to apply for capital funding to open a new voluntary-aided (VA) school was 1 February 2019.

Proposers are still able to establish a new VA school without having to bid for capital funding through this scheme.

Read the statutory guidance on opening and closing maintained schools to understand the process for establishing new VA schools.

‘Establishing a voluntary-aided school: guidance and criteria’ explains how we will assess bids to establish new VA schools.
