MHRA has produced a summary report of the evidence on the benefits and risks of vaginal mesh implants as part of ongoing research and after the Chief Medical Officer, Professor Dame Sally Davies, requested it.
Any commercially sensitive information has been redacted.
From a regulatory perspective, the benefits of the use of vaginal mesh implants outweigh the risks. We consider there is currently no justification for taking any regulatory action to remove these devices from use in UK hospitals.
