Ofqual has issued Cambridge English with a monetary penalty of £875,000 following marking errors affecting Cambridge English’s IELTS qualification between August 2023 and September 2025. As a result of the marking errors, there were 63,216 test instances requiring a change of result at component or qualification level. These errors affected 62,794 learners.
