UK Trade Tariff: CHIEF clearance status codes

If you are making a declaration using the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) follow the guidance in the UK Trade Tariff: volume 3 for CDS.

1. Import clearance status codes

2. Status of Entry codes for export entries and movements

R Reprocessing error on arrival
X Movement disassociated from consolidation
0 Declaration not submitted to CHIEF (that is, no entry)
1 Consignment subject to associated route
2 Detained
3 Queried
4 Subject to customs approval (of amendment or query response)
5 Cancellation requested
6 Accounting rejection
7 Permitted to progress
8 Departed (from the UK either notified or assumed)
9 Terminated - cancelled, seized, destroyed, released to Queen’s warehouse or timed out arrival awaiting a declaration

Where the consignment is subject to more that one of the conditions (for example, queried and detained) the highest value is reported. Alphabetic characters are deemed lower than numeric for this purpose.

3. Status of Entry codes for master movements

Status of Entry code Description
0 Consolidation is ‘open’ (there may be more goods to be declared to CHIEF)
1 Consolidation subject to associated route
7 Permitted to progress
9 Consolidation seized/destroyed. Released to Queen’s warehouse
