Additional Information (AI) Statement Codes for Data Element 2/2 of the Customs Declaration Service (CDS)

Find out the codes to be used to provide additional information in Data Element (DE) 2/2 of the customs declaration or clearance request (Appendix 4).

Known error workarounds may apply to this area of the instructions.

This Appendix provides details of the codes to be used to provide additional information in Data Element (DE) 2/2 of the customs declaration or clearance request. The completion of codes will be determined by the:

  • Procedure or Additional Procedure Codes used in DE 1/10 or 1/11
  • commodity code details declared in DE 6/14 to 6/17 or
  • CDS Declaration Completion Instructions

The Additional Information (AI) codes which may be used in DE 2/2 are specified below along with the details to be entered on the declaration or customs clearance request.

Where the completion rules for a specific AI Code in Appendix 1: DE 1/10: Requested and Previous Procedure Codes and Appendix 2: DE 1/11: Additional Procedure Codes specify different rules to the completion instructions shown in this document, the rules specified in Appendices 1 and 2 take precedence.

The Codes are split into:

  • Appendix 4A: Union Codes which may be declared on customs declarations or customs clearance requests
  • Appendix 4B: National Codes which may be declared on customs declarations or customs clearance requests

Where a single goods item requires both Union and National AI statement codes declared in DE 2/2, any Union Codes (beginning with a number) must be declared first.
