Conditions of grant

This guidance sets out the terms and conditions applied to the NPQ targeted support fund grant allocations and payments to eligible organisations in each respective academic year for 2022 to 2023 and 2023 and 2024.

Allocations

In June, we published the NPQ targeted support funding grant allocations (small schools) June 2023 spreadsheet for organisations with participants who registered and commenced their NPQ in the 2022 to 2023 academic year.

In October, we published the updated 2022 to 2023 allocations spreadsheet for the grant funding on the NPQ targeted support fund grant allocations. These updated allocations now include the sweep up payments which will be made to organisations with participants who started their NPQ in the 2022 to 2023 academic year but were not paid in the previous summer 2023 payment window.

Please note, for ease, rather than publishing 2 separate spreadsheets, we have published June 2023 and October/November 2023 allocations on a single combined spreadsheet national professional qualification (NPQ) targeted support funding grant allocations (small schools) 2023.

Payments

We will make payments in arrears during the summer term after the NPQ participants begin their course.

We paid the 2022 to 2023 allocations to local authority maintained schools in June 2023 and to academies in July 2023. We are making a further payment to independent special schools from July 2023 onwards.

A sweep up payment will be made to maintained schools in October 2023 and academies in November 2023, as well as all eligible 16 to 19 organisations, to ensure all schools and organisations not captured in the summer 2023 payment window are paid in year.

Any late eligibility claims will be paid in the summer 2024 payment window.
