T Level industry placements: guidance for providers

Guidance for providers of T Levels on how to prepare for and oversee industry placements, and what to do at the end of a placement.

  1. Updated the guidance document to correct an error about how many hours of funding providers are eligible for. The change is in the ‘Preparing students for placement’ section.

  2. Updated to clarify the evidence requirements for a completion decision.

  3. Updated 'T Level industry placements: guidance for providers' for 2026, to reflect a new delivery framework for industry placements. This gives providers more scope to tailor placements to their local context and the needs of their students. We have also updated the other documents on the page.

  4. Removed 'Hair and beauty route: example industry placement objective templates' and 'Catering and hospitality route: example industry placement objective templates'.

  5. We have updated the delivery guidance document. This includes updated guidance on delivery approaches, so we have removed annex A. We have also added a set of core principles for industry placements. We have updated sections on the support available for providers, internal monitoring and quality assurance, placement withdrawal and breakdown, and how to record data.

  6. Added ‘Recommended supplementary qualifications for students studying agricultural T Levels’.

  7. 'T Level industry placements: delivery guidance', ' Further guidance on delivering pathway level placements for health, healthcare science and science T Level students', 'Education and childcare route: example industry placement objective templates', Annex A, Annex C and Annex D were updated. 'Existing industry placement flexibilities' was removed.

  8. The core principles have been updated in 'The T Level industry placements: delivery guidance' (PDF and HTML versions). Annex A and Annex B have been updated with the new industry placement delivery approaches guidance.

  9. We have published further guidance on delivering pathway level placements for Health, Healthcare Science and Science T Level students.

  10. We have updated the T Level industry placements: delivery guidance with updated links to further guidance, and information on using the Manage T Level results service.

  11. We have published Annex J: T Level Technical Qualification in Health guidance, specific to Dental Nursing.

  12. We have published guidance on temporary flexibilities for 2020 and 2021 students.

  13. We have updated Annex D, and published new Creative and Design route example, and a summary of existing industry placement flexibilities.

  14. We have published an updated version of the T Level industry placements delivery guidance with additions to Annex D.

  15. We have updated Annex D, specifically the section on Wave 2 - 2021 delivery and the T Level in Building Services Engineering for Construction.

  16. We have published Agriculture, Environmental and Animal care route: example industry placement objective templates.

  • what industry placements are and how they can be delivered
  • how to prepare for and oversee a placement
  • how to determine placement completion
  • what to do if a student does not complete the placement by the end of their T Level programme
  • how to record relevant data
