Details

Guidance setting out the street works permit scheme conditions that highway authorities must follow if imposing conditions on permits.

The guidance applies from 5 January 2026.

It is used with the street works permit schemes regulations guidance and reflects the Street and Road Work Charges and Penalties Regulations 2025, which:

  • increased the level of fixed penalty notices for street works offences
  • extended overrun charges to weekends and bank holidays where works extend beyond the agreed duration
