The attached page lists the successful local authority bids for funding under Wave 1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF). £179 million has been offered to 69 projects.

Through the SHDF Wave 1, around 20,000 social housing properties currently below Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C rating will be upgraded, helping to cut fuel bills for social housing tenants as well as delivering warm homes and reducing carbon emissions. The funding will also support around 9,000 jobs in the green energy sector and deliver carbon emissions savings equivalent to taking up to 6,000 cars off the road in any given year.

The SHDF Wave 1 competition is closed and the successful projects are expected to complete by the end of March 2023.

Wave 1 aims to build on the success of the Demonstrator project that has been delivering innovative approaches to retrofitting social housing in a scalable way.

SHDF Wave 2

During the 2021 Spending Review, the government committed a further £800 million across 3 years for the SHDF. The SHDF Wave 2 competition will launch in the next financial year.
